The deadline has been extended to February 15, 2013! Please see below for details.
Thank you for your interest in SCCC’s annual Creative Writing Festival: A Celebration of Teaching and Writing. Our festival features five days of events held Monday, April 22- Friday, April 26 at each of our three campuses (in Brentwood, Selden, and Riverhead, NY) preceding an all-day conference in Selden, NY on Saturday, April 27, 2013. The festival brings together students, poets, novelists, short story writers, dramatists, essayists, and creative writing professors for an engaging day of workshops, panel discussions, readings, and related events.
Currently, we are accepting proposals for workshops and panel discussions to be held throughout the week and at the all-day conference. We are looking for:
1) Writing Workshops: Inspire and motivate festival attendees to write in fresh, interesting, and engaging fifty-minute sessions. All genres will be considered, but workshops should be aimed at a primarily undergraduate audience. If you have a “stand alone” workshop that works particularly well and will get your audience writing, we are interested in hearing about it.
2) Presentation/Panel Discussion Sessions: Present on any topic of interest to creative writing students and instructors at the undergraduate level. Panel proposals must include a list of panelists/presenters with the appropriate contact information for each, and working paper titles.
You are encouraged to consider these guidelines as broadly and creatively as possible.
All panel and workshop proposals should fit within a 70 minute time frame: sixty minutes for the session and ten minutes for Q and A.
The deadline for this electronic application is January 11, 2013. Workshops and Panel Discussions for the 2013 Festival will be chosen on January 16, 2013 and notifications sent on or before Friday, January 25, 2013.
The deadline for this electronic application is now February 15, 2013. Workshops and Panel Discussions will be chosen on a rolling basis, but all notifications regarding the Creative Writing Festival Committee’s decisions will be made by March 1, 2013.
Please fill out this electronic form to propose your panel discussion or workshop for the festival. Please limit your proposals to two (2) per applicant.
